Hi.

This is the story of how life can change too fast. From Asian beaches to Irish chemo wards, we document it here.

Wanna meet up in Hong Kong?

Wanna meet up in Hong Kong?

"Let's meet in Hong Kong". The sentences that come out of my mouth these days astound me. But we found ourselves booking a trip to Hong Kong to meet up with Swedish friends who were on their way to Australia. Yeah. I know.

3 years ago, just going to Sweden was a massive deal for us. Now we were flying Emirates to a major world capital to bang around Hong Kong with them and their kids. Life is unexpected, y'all.

Dense

Hong Kong was hot and beautiful and Chinese and British. We had chaotic dim sum and exorbitant cocktails on the 118th floor. We wandered tacky markets and shopped at chic boutiques. We saw the city from the peak and from the water.

But the most fun was watching the kids experience the food, the fish markets and loving the endless escalators. We played my new favorite game "guess the Swedish word" whereby I guess how you say any object in Swedish. Hint: say the object in English, with a heavy Swedish accent. 80% success rate!!  Pen-na, Lamp-a, Glass-a!

Delicious

We fell in love with the hipster mid-levels, fashionable bars full of bankers next to organic coffee houses and tiny Chinese mom and pop shops.

Humid

I went for a sticky and challenging run along Bowen trail, a flat route the winds through the hills above the city. The trail is packed with runners, dog walkers and tai chi practitioners, who have made the extremely steep hike to get to it. My sweat patches were only embarrassing until my entire shirt had changed color!

As usual, each trip leaves you with a longer list of trips to take. We will have to come back to Hong Kong for the famous Hong Kong sevens, and now we have an invitation to Perth! See you there!
