Hi.

This is the story of how life can change too fast. From Asian beaches to Irish chemo wards, we document it here.

Koh Samet

Koh Samet

Samet is a wee island SE of Bangkok, in the gulf about 3 hours away by car. We decided to be thrifty this time and took the bus so it took us triple the time.

We stayed in a nice little 'resort' on the beach.

We went snorkeling and I got stung on the lip but soldiered bravely on at the next stop.

We discovered that 2 margaritas were 400 bhat but a whole bottle of local Sangsom rum was only 350. So that's how we spent a lot of time. On a beach-side restaurant with cheap rum and mixers.

Why do we look so pissed?

Why do we look so pissed?

There was a lot of plastic washed up on this otherwise perfect beach (Ao Vongduern). ..which made me absolutely crazy. As quaint and protected as this inlet was, the other beaches were not as bad, so I would not return here in a hurry. Between the trash, the bus ride and the boat transfers, it was altogether too much work for a short trip.

We threw a beer-tasting party!
